ISO 3200
I have no hesitate to print any on these photos.
ISO 6400
Again, I have no issue to print here photos too.
ISO 12800 (H)
The photos have a lot of noises but as remember – it was really dark. Looks at the first photo, the door bell is over exposure. Can you imagine that, even the door bell light was brighter then surrounding light. It was dark. As family photos – ya still usable but no big print.
Baby Steps to Video DSLR

The moment I got my Canon EOS 7D, I feel like a kid of getting his new toy. I’m very excited in term of its ability in still photos and also video. I have been trying to do more video recording but there a lot of challenges:
- shaky camera
- hard to see if a subject in focus or not especially outdoor in day light.
- manual focus (cause by item 2.)
- … I remembered it couple minutes ago but now, it just blame. Well, well.
- plot

This version Canon:
“Corrects a phenomenon that in images captured by continuous shooting, and under certain conditions, barely noticeable traces of the immediately preceding frame may be visible.”
You can download the firmware here.
No, I haven’t updated mine. Normally I’m not do it right away especially the fix has not much affected me. Most probably I will do in next couple of days.

I have been using Canon for more then 10+ years now. Basically a Canon fan, period. But in this type of news, I really feel disappointed with Canon. It’s that true?
Canon EF 28mm f/1.8
Posted by David Chen in Thing I used on November 8, 2009
I need to get 28mm fix lens. Currently I’m using 50mm the most but it became 80mm on 7D. I need a wider lens. So 28mm will be perfect. My Christmas present?
ISO 3200 & 6400 on Canon EOS 7D

50 mm f1.8, f3.6 at 1/60, ISO 3200 |
50 mm f1.8, f3.6 at 1/125, ISO 6400 |
This morning when I saw my son was wearing his black custom, I quickly grab my EOS 7D and fire couple of ISO test. I managed to get 4 photos since he constantly moving in hurry to go to school.
The 7D is set to 8Mb, with staircase compression (8M) and then I resize them again into 1067×1600 which good enough for regular printing. The photos are still pretty good and impressive. I can see more noise on ISO 6400 however it won’t stop me to print the photos for family album.
So I won’t hesitate to use ISO 3200 and in fact even ISO 6400 again – night time, indoor, birthday with candle light, …
